These units are typically inexpensively manufactured and are mass- produced in China. 95% of these units have no voltage display, and that is a problem for the practitioner and ultimately, the end user. Without a voltage and amperage meter working together, you are guessing that you are ionizing the water correctly. These are two important variables to providing effective treatments. With the minimal operation instructions provided with these units, there is a higher chance that you will not run the device correctly. These units run from $100.00 to $2000.00.

Second, you need to know that:

The Western Style unit is a different and more efficient apparatus than the Eastern Style unit. These units have voltage and amperage meters which work together allowing the practitioner to correctly set the treatments voltage and amperage readings. For example, the ADVANCED ION THERAPEUTICS device ranges from 18-19 volts and 2.10 amperes during an average treatment session. The Eastern Style units are mass- produced and almost any manufacturer can make these units. They are kits which, for the most part, MUST BE put together. These devices usually come JUST with an amperage meter and not a voltage meter. Most, if not all of the units, have wristbands which must be worn to operate the unit. These units come with almost no instructions and the purchaser is left on their own to figure out how the device works.

The circuit boards for these units are not the same and some manufacturers have figured out how to place a chip in these boards to keep the voltage constant at 14 to 15 volts, while the amperage runs wild, sometimes as high as 5.5 amperes. These computer chips are manipulating the voltage and amperage ratios, which may not provide the safest treatment for the client. Many of the these Eastern Style units run hot when you follow the instructions, running at 8 to 14 volts. Without a voltage display there is no way for you to adjust for the water and mineral variables. The minimum requirement for ionization is 13.6 volts, and it is also best for the human body if the ionization process runs at about 18 volts during the session. AS A PRACTITIONER YOU NEED TO BE AWARE OF THIS.

The water used is also an important variable when offering effective ionic foot bath treatments and that requires a voltage display to read. The water used in the treatment contains minerals; it would be very difficult to guarantee yourself, or a client, that the treatment worked without knowing that the water was actually ionizing at a voltage range of 18-19 volts. Seriously, you would be guessing every time you ran a treatment that the voltage is high enough to create ionization and that it is being done at a safe level.

There are more copy units available than legitimate brand names. These units, which come without voltage displays, typically run hot and do not last very long. As a consumer, you also need to know who you're buying from.
