In the upper photo you have the insides of the Ionways, Jupiter/Athena water ionizer. This is Ionways best unit. The other 3-sets of plates in the picture are from the SUN-US (3- plates), DX II (5-plates), and SD501 (7-plates). As you can see, the water ionization chamber in the SUN-US is bigger than the Athena. More important to you, the plates are solid, and not mesh screens like most other South Korean and Chinese models.

An inside look at Ionways Jupiter/Athena water ionizing chamber, compared to the ionizing chamber of the Enagic SUN-US water ionizer. The SUN-US unit has 3-solid plates of titanium, coated with platinum. The Ionways product does not use a solid plate, but a mesh screen of titanium and sprayed with platinum. Enagic water units are continuous use products. The Jupiter and Athena warranty limits water use to 3-gallons of water a day. Or, you could damage your machine. Notice the size differences in water ionizing chambers. The Enagic SUN-US is a "travel model" and is the smallest water ionizer in the LeveLuk line of products.

An inside look at Ionways Jupiter/Athena water ionizing chamber, compared to the ionizing chamber of the Enagic DX II water ionizer. The DX II unit has 5-solid plates of titanium, coated with platinum. The Ionways product does not use a solid plate, but a mesh screen of titanium and sprayed with platinum. Enagic water units are continuous use products. The Jupiter and Athena warranty limits water use to 3-gallons of water a day. Or, you could damage your machine.

An inside look at Ionways Jupiter/Athena water ionizing chamber, compared to the ionizing chamber of the Enagic SD501 water ionizer. The SD501 unit has 7-solid plates of titanium, coated with platinum. The Ionways product does not use a solid plate, but a mesh screen of titanium and sprayed with platinum. Enagic water units are continuous use products. The Jupiter and Athena warranty limits water use to 3-gallons of water a day. Or, you could damage your machine.

An inside, sideways view at Ionways Jupiter/Athena water ionizing chamber, compared to the ionizing chamber of the Enagic SD501 water ionizer. The SD501 unit has 7-solid plates of titanium, coated with platinum. A comparison of the 2-units and warranty makes the Ionways product look like a toy and maybe not the best offer for your family.
Compare the 3 Most Important Variables about water ionizer units.
That is, the number of plates, type of plates (solid or screen), and the unit's power level (wattage). Obviously, inexpensive screen-plates have to run at lower energy levels (wattage) to avoid damaging the screen-plates. The energy in the water usually degrades quickly, taking big hits to the ORP level every 30-minutes, and ultimately, a big hit in the first hour. Whereas, Enagic's solid plate design allows for continual use at 2 to 3-times the energy level (wattage) of most units, making quality ionized water (with longer lasting memory) that does not immediately degrade, and stays stable at the highest ORP for 9 to 12 hours.
1. Compare water ionizer products by the amount of power supplied to the plates, plate type (solid or screen), plate sizes and the number of plates.
2. Higher wattage and greater plate surface area often produce the best results. SMPS machines operate more energy efficiently but may not produce the best results.
3. You should also keep in mind that water quality, water chamber design and the way the power is delivered to the plates plays a key role in producing quality (stable) alkaline ionized water. Many industrialized cities may require that additional 2 and 3-stage filtration systems be added before the ionizing unit. Too many minerals will affect the ionization results, weakening the effect and maybe even damaging an inexpensive unit. (This is a proven fact, no matter what you have been told by other distributors.)
Ultimately it comes down to performance and the quality of the water a unit can make.

Conclusion,
Again, the plate design of each water unit (solid plate's verses mesh-screens), the number of plates or screens, and the power wattage of the unit, will determine what is produced as an end product. Each water unit may produce alkaline water, however, the Enagic LeveLuk SD501 unit uses 3-times more energy wattage through its solid (titanium platinum coated) plates, offers many times over the surface space for charging the water, and retains the energy for 9 hours before degrading.
This cannot be said about mesh screen water units where the energy is unstable and rapidly degrades, losing a huge amount of energy in the first hour. Units with mesh screens usually allow you to make 3-gallons a day of water (this is in the small print); any more and you could burn your screen. This could even happen by running hard water through your unit. There are allot of claims being made by companies whose water units run at a 1/3 of the energy wattage of the Enagic SD501. The Enagic LeveLuk SD501 unit is a continuous use model. No other water ionizer company makes this claim. And again, this short fall is DIRECTLY contributed to material cost and the limited amount of actual material used in the screens/plates. (See the comparison of ionization chambers in the Enagic LeveLuk SD501, DX II and SUN-US and Ionways Jupiter/Athena models.)
Please keep in mind that results may vary depending upon the water source. For example, in Southern California, a 3-stage filter is required to receive the maximum benefit from your Enagic unit. (This is a proven fact.) The water supple has too many minerals for effective ionization. In Southern California, ALL ionization units need a 3-stage filter and one of them should have activated charcoal. (Again, this is a proven fact.) If you are buying a water ionization unit for health reasons, understand what you are buying and don't be afraid to speak with experts. Otherwise, you could spend allot of money and still not get the results you are looking for.
